Very large Victorian Italy grand tour carved cameo brooch 2inches high . A follower of bacchus with grapes and vine leaves in her hair , beautifully proportioned classical features . carved on pale pink curved shell.I particularly like the plaits in the hair. original mount silver gilt very ornate individually made for this cameo. theres a tiny makers or hallmark by the hinge . no cracks or chips tight in the frame . I gave it a wash just before the photo so it might look a bit wet also a speck of soap on the clasp . the metal is pushed in slightly at the bottom front looks like an original feature to hold the cameo tight.On 29-Oct-14 at 11:12:43 GMT, seller added the following information:
