late 1800s/early 1900s German? .800 Silver Snuffbox Small Box w Roses Design

Presented is a fantastic European silver snuffbox from the late 1800s or early 1900s. The box was likely made in Germany or another European country, and was then imported into France. The lid of the box has a bold design of roses and leaves against a rayed, starburst shape, with a ropetwist border around the edge. The sides of the box have a continuous band of foliate medallions with bellflowers in between. The designs are quite detailed and crisp, beautifully done to a higher standard of quality than is typical for these little snuffboxes. Great for storing small trinkets and mementos, small jewelry items, etc, though I\'m sure it could be used for its original purpose of holding snuff admirably as well.

This piece is in great condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The underside of the box is stamped with what French style pseudo-hallmarks likely in Hanau Germany or surrounding countries, while the lip of the lid is stamped with a French import mark in the shape of an insect. This piece is nitric acid tested and guaranteed at least 800 purity silver.

The box has approximate dimensions of 3 1/8 by 1 3/4 by 3/4 of an inch, LxWxH.

This piece weighs 67 grams or 2.4 regular ounces.
