This exquisite 53mm silver Breguet a Paris Verge Fusee pocket watch is a stunning example of French horology from the early 19th century. The watch features a Quarter Repeating complication, which, when the pendant is depressed, audibly strikes the hours and the number of quarters past the hour on tuned internal wire gongs.

The gilt-brass Verge Fusee movement is a testament to the era’s craftsmanship, featuring a finely pierced and engraved balance bridge. It has been professionally inspected and is in full working order, keeping time and repeating with a clear, resonant tone. The inner dust cover (cuvette) is elegantly engraved "Breguet à Paris, No. 4074."

• Dial: The white enamel dial is in superb condition, featuring elegant Arabic numerals and delicate Breguet hands. It includes a winding aperture at the 2 o'clock position.

• Case: The silver case is characterized by a "coin-edge" (reeded) middle band, typical of the period's premium styling.

• Reverse: The case back is the centerpiece of this watch, featuring a high-quality enamel portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte in his coronation robes, adorned with a laurel wreath and the Legion of Honour. The enamel remains vibrant and remarkably well-preserved.

The enamel portrait depicts Napoleon I as Emperor. Given the iconography, this watch likely dates to the First French Empire period (c. 1805–1815). Watches featuring such portraiture were often commissioned as presentation pieces or tokens of loyalty by officers and high-ranking officials within the Grande Armée.
