This historic press photograph captures Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. receiving the Nobel Peace Prize from Gunnar Jahn, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, in Oslo, Norway, on December 10, 1964. Standing before a collection of microphones with his award in hand, King is photographed during one of the defining international recognitions of his life and of the American Civil Rights Movement.
