The Jennings Dog, also known as the Dog of Alciabiades, is a second century monumental Roman Marble sculpture purchased in Italy by an English man named Jennings in the modern era. That marble was a copy of an even older Greek original.

This statue on offer is a beautiful Bronze rendering by the old English firm of Elkington and Co. The subject itself is believed to be a Molossian Hound.

Elkington was famed for their precise reduction and casting work, as well as their rich patinas.

All that is on display here and looking to be in great shape. The patina gives depth and richness to the animal casting. I see no issues. The bronze is mounted to stone. It is a little loose, and perhaps can be tightened if the felt below reveals a screw or nut, but I will leave it as is as it does not affect display.

The Elkington mark is affixed to the rear of the plinth.
