Superb Framed Donald Campbell Bluebird Signed Photo Card & Brochure d.1955

Donald Malcolm Campbell (23 March 1921 – 4 January 1967) was a British speed record breaker who broke eight absolute world speed records on water and on land in the 1950s and 1960s. He remains the only person to set both world land and water speed records in the same year (1964), but sadly died during a water speed record attempt in the speed boat “Bluebird” at Coniston Water in the Lake District, England in 1967.

These two framed pieces of Bluebird ephemera are in good and well presented condition. They are held between two pieces of oak framed glass, so that the front and reverse can be viewed. The photo card features Campbells own advanced all-metal jet-powered Bluebird K7 hydroplane, with an inset picture of himself. To the front right, is a hand written ink inscription “To an old pal Webly, (or Welly) with all the Best Wishes” and signed by Donald Campbell himself. On the reverse is a date “Nov 22 /55, Lake Neani, USA and “Mean Time 216.2 Mph” and “Fastest Run 239.5 Mph”.

Overall, the frame measures 12.5” x 10.5” and is a must for any avid Bluebird collector!
