Welcome!
This necklace survived the fire perfectly intact. It was protected and there are no problems. I have this masterpiece here and I can ship promptly.
Offered... an exceptional and rare example of the best Dan Simplicio necklace I've seen and the best the gallery owner from whom I bought it had seen too. It's astonishing. Made with gorgeous natural turquoise. There is a figure of turquoise suggestive of a rainbow man in the Naja of the same turquoise in the blossoms. There is typical hand made silver work by Dan Simplicio in each blossom as well as the Naja, and the beads are hand made and beautiful too.
This is one of the most important and fabulous pieces by this great master silversmith. It's almost sculptural in that it looks different and gorgeous from every angle. The organic and naturalistic style is very important and representative of his contribution to an entire era. The rainbow man at the center is entirely unique and thrilling. The movement and color play... every element is perfection. His creativity was boundless and he never made the same thing twice. This is a unique work of art.
This incredible squash has a Naja that is 2-3/4" high and long. The hanging length is 17" to the end of the Naja from the end of the over 29" long beads. The blossoms are about 1-3/4" long and about 1" wide. This necklace is made with delicately beautiful entirely hand made and perfectly finished beads, which are especially enchanting.
I included pics with some of the pieces with which I wear this necklace but they are not for sale with it and were not bought with it. I'll give you some info about them and if you're interested I'll make them available.
The separately available bracelet is also Dan Simplicio and the width is 1-3/4" at the center tapering to 3/4" at the terminals. The length is 6-1/8" for the silver along with a gap of about 1-1/8" and a total length of 7-1/4".
The separately available earrings are also made by Dan Simplicio, measuring 1" x 1-1/4". I converted them to Omega backs by leaving the original clip and adding posts with laser (cold solder doesn't harm the stones).
The design element of the necklace is unique because Dan Simplicio was a creative artist. There is nothing even close to being like this necklace in design.
The form is unusual and has a superb, balanced, aesthetic. The turquoise is gorgeous, a deeply rich color, but I don't know the mine. The necklace is strung on foxtail chain, which is the strongest and most flexible option. There are twelve blossoms and a hand made hook and eye closure. Condition is excellent vintage, wearable and collectible. Consistent with the age it is not signed for silver content but it is at least coin silver at .900 or sterling silver at .925. It tests as sterling silver.

BACKGROUND: 1917-1969 Dan Simplicio's work is in the C.G.Wallace catalog, and pretty much every important collection, gallery and museum. Dan Simplicio was one of C. G. Wallace's favorite smiths. He was versatile. His work was prominently featured in the 1975 Sotheby's sale of the C. G. Wallace collection. Work from this collection is in the permanent collection of the Heard Museum in Phoenix. Dan Simplicio was one of the great master silversmiths in Zuni history. He was vastly talented and worked in many techniques and styles. Truly a great master, his work commands top prices and is in the best museums and galleries. He is one of the most important Zuni artists from the CG Wallace period and his naturalistic free form style of work has become one hallmark of that era.
This example is entirely unique; an important and rare find. Comfortable to wear with strikingly deeply colored turquoise and phenomenal, hand made, silverwork. For those who value the very best and the aura of the past in their Native American jewelry, this is the necklace for you. It's exquisite. A great collector's piece.
