This complete set of Stations of the Cross dates to the mid 1800's and was crafted in France. Constructed from a solid carved block of walnut wood with a deep dark finish, each oval plaque features a sculptural high-relief scene depicting the Passion of Christ, framed with decorative foliate carving and Roman numeral station markers above.The set illustrates the traditional fourteen Stations of the Cross, including Christ carrying the cross, the crucifixion, entombment, and resurrection. The expressive carved drapery, dimensional figures, and devotional subject matter reflect traditional European ecclesiastical craftsmanship and religious artistry of the period.These plaques were originally intended for church or chapel installation and retain a strong architectural and devotional presence.
