POSSIBLE PREHISTORIC BIRD EGG FOSSIL WITH MEGA RARE DOUBLE YOLK EGG FOSSILFOUND IN OREGON NEAR THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE. VERY RAREMiocene EpochERA.Here's a great and VERYrare Double Yolk Egg Fossil. It is a soft shelled/ compression fossil. It measures 5 x 4 x 4 inches and weighs 2.5 lbs. The Yolks have a very unique look and texture to them. The texture of these are completely different than the rest of the fossil. You can clearly see two distinct yolks in the pictures provided. It was found inEast Multnomah CountyOregon at the Columbia River Gorge where Dinosaur and Prehistoric Bird Egg Fossils have been found and still are being found. The 3rd picture is a side/profile shot that shows two distinct yolk embryo's easily seen. There is a good 99.9% chance this is a larger sized Prehistoric Bird Egg that came from either the Large Terror Bird or theGiant Teratorn that have been found and discovered in the same area where this one came from.
This has also been verified as a double yolk egg fossil. You can also see where it's misshaped. If you have doubts about this, please read the following:

Fossilized eggs can exhibit multiple layers, just like their modern counterparts. These layers can include:

  1. Outer Shell Layer: This is the original shell, which may show varying degrees of preservation and can contain pores.

  2. Inner Shell Layer: Just beneath the outer layer, often less calcified and more prone to decay.

  3. Membranes: Internal egg membranes can sometimes be preserved as thin layers, although this is rare.

  4. Sediment Infills: Fossilization can cause sediment to fill in the egg, creating additional layers that weren't part of the original egg structure.

The number and visibility of these layers can vary significantly depending on the fossilization conditions and the age of the egg.

Egg Fossils can have different types of surfaces:

The surface of an egg fossil can exhibit various textures depending on the species and the conditions under which the egg was fossilized. Some of the common surface types include:

  • Smooth: Some egg fossils have a smooth exterior, indicating they may have been laid in Environments with less abrasive materials.

  • Pitted: Small depressions or pits can cover the surface, often seen in dinosaur eggs.

  • Ridged: Ridges or lines may run along the egg, sometimes indicating specific biological features or Environmental impacts.

  • Pebbly: A pebbly texture with small, raised bumps can be found on certain egg fossils, providing insights into the eggshell's structure.

These surface variations can offer valuable clues about the egg-laying species and the Environment in which the eggs were deposited and fossilized.
