Cas Toya is mentioned as the husband of Mary E. Toya, a renowned Jemez Pueblo artist known for creating some of the largest storyteller dolls, some adorned with over a hundred babies.

Jemez Pueblo storyteller dolls are significant cultural artifacts, originating from the Cochiti Pueblo with Helen Cordero’s creation in 1964, inspired by her grandfather, a tribal storyteller. These dolls typically depict a central figure, often with an open mouth, surrounded by smaller figures (children or animals), symbolizing the oral tradition of passing down cultural narratives. Jemez potters, including the Toya family, are noted for their distinctive earth-tone colors, blending polished and matte finishes with painted or etched designs.
