Rare Pair of Batchelder Art Pottery Peacock Verdigris Jardiniere Planters 1920's:

Stunning and rare pair of Batchelder (Ernest Allan Batchelder 1875 - 1957 Pasadena, CA), Los Angeles art pottery jardinieres or garden pots, circa 1920. Pattern features peacock birds with acorn band and leaves in high relief with black and Verdigris (greenish aqua) glaze. Scarce color. Base is embossed ''Batchelder / Los Angeles'' #503 and impressed ''50877'' and stand and four molded feet. #503 is the pattern number found in The Batchelder Tile Catalog, page 43. Each measure 12” high x 13” x 13” and weigh just over 31 1/2 lbs. Both pieces display some nicks, chips to the high relief areas as well as some chipping to the edges, corners and feet from use and age, a few areas looked to be touched up. They are completely stable and usable. There are no cracks to the planters, please see all photos. A rare find, not be be passed up!
