The check features bold period typography, ornate border design, and all handwritten fields completed in vibrant red/brown iron gall ink — fully legible after 140+ years. The reverse bears a clean endorsement signature, indicating this check was presented and paid. A wonderful piece of Gilded Age banking and New York State financial history.

Condition: Very good for age — light toning and age patina consistent with an 1885 document, no tears or significant damage noted. Displays beautifully.
