This is a wonderful original. In this industry I see a lot of different kinds of works on the market. Over the last couple years I have gotten a couple of opportunities to buy original illustration artwork in the motorsports world. The last one I had was a Jon Jodauga original cover illustration for a pamphlet. I remember how that one was received and thought this one was just as good. This is a wonderful original watercolor and ink painting of important Race Car driver Pancho Carter and one of his open wheeled cars. It is an early work done by contemporary illustrator and artist Jim Gastinger. A wonderful painting on illustration board measuring 17 3/4 x 20 inches. Signed lower right. Painting is in outstanding clean and vibrant condition. Margin markings for where the illustration was placed for printing. Also some coloring in the lower margin where the artist tested his brush. One small crease lower left corner that just comes inside the background painting but nothing of real concern. What I also love about this is that I was actually able to acquire the original magazine that it was used for. It is the "Racing Cars" magazine for the 2nd Quarter 1978 volume 2 number 2. This was a magazine that was part of the Carl Hungness Publishing which has been a huge part of Automobilia and racing publishing in the last 60+ years.
