ORIGINAL RACE TRACKNEON SIGN "THE PIT STOP" FROM PIKES PEAK INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY (PPIR). This sign was the ONLY neon sign installed at the race track. It was made by YESCO in 1998, which has been building signs since 1920. It is in excellent condition. It has been disassembled , cleaned and inspected with no issues. It has a 120 volt household plug in with an on/off switch mounted on the side of the housing. Current rating is 8 amps. Can be back mounted , bottom mounted or hung from 4 top eyebolts. It is extremely well constructed. It is fully enclosed to prevent damage from Colorado hail, and is constructed for outdoor applications.
Would make a great addition to an auto museum, mancave , centerpiece for a racing theme grill/pub or outdoor patio.
This is a one of a kind historical, mountain themed, auto sports sign that nobody else has!

HISTORY
Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) is a 1-mile D-shaped oval and road course in Fountain, Colorado, that opened on May 31, 1997, built on the site of the former Pikes Peak Meadows horse track. Known for its high-speed, smooth surface and 10-degree banking, it has hosted IndyCar and NASCAR events, transitioning from a major professional venue into a hub for grassroots racing and vehicle testing.Key Historical Milestones

Construction & Opening (1996-1997): Announced in May 1996 by C.C. Myers on a 1,300-acre site, the track was designed with a "natural amphitheater" effect, placing the track 6 feet below ground level to improve spectator views.
"Fastest 1-Mile Oval" (1997): Upon opening, it was billed as the fastest 1-mile paved oval in the country.
Major Series (1997–2005): PPIR hosted Indy Racing League (IRL) races, with Tony Stewart winning the inaugural race in 1997. It also hosted NASCAR Busch (now Xfinity) and Truck series races.
Sale and Closure (2005-2008): Following the 2005 season, the track was sold to International Speedway Corporation (ISC), a NASCAR subsidiary, and subsequently closed.
