Sixth Plate Civil War Tintype of an Armed Union Private, a tad dark but great detail, in a double thermoplastic case with an Sixth Plate Ambrotype of a Young Woman. Penciled inscriptions in the back of the case of the Union Soliderreads, \"Oliver Stevens, Livermore, Maine,Army Picture 1862,\" and \"Maddie 1862\" in the back of the case of the Woman\'s Ambrotype.If accurate, this would identify him as a soldier in the 20th Maine who was killed in action at Gettysburg.

However, for a number of reasons I cannot be confident about the inscription, even though it was acquired from a well-known Civil War Dealer who did (and does) vouch for it. Consequently, I am offering it for what I know it is: a sharply focused armed image of a Civil War Infantryman with a young woman. Accordingly, I am starting it at a low offer price and a Buy itNow option that is also quite modest. Feel free to ask any questions before offerding. Shipping is via Priority Mail.

In response to a question, I have added a close up of the breast plate. As one can see, there is some sort of stencil or branding on the shoulder strap itself, but I cannot make out what the markings may mean.
