I HAVE AN INTERESTING LOT OF TEN (10) OF STEVE McQUEEN\'S TOYS FROM HIS PERSONAL COLLECTION.
THIS LOT WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD AT THE IMPERIAL PALACE IN LAS VEGAS ON NOVEMBER 24-25, 1984.
THE CONDITION OF THESE TOYS ARE IN FAIR-POOR ORIGINAL CONDITION, Jay Leno says \"Good Patina\"
WHATEVER THE CONDITION, WE MUST AGREE STEVE McQUEEN\'S DNA IS ON EACH TOY CAR OR TRUCK.
THE LARGER 1930\'S CAR HAULER IS A MARX TOY, MOST OF THE OTHER SMALLER TOYS ARE SUN RUBBER.
***Please be advised on the Mickey Mouse fire engine, Mickey\'s head is loose, but in good shape, I did not want to damage this 1930\'s toy*** ***Also, one (1) of the cars that sits on top of the car hauler is missing two (2) front tires, axle is intact***
SO THERE IS NO CONFUSION, IN NOVEMBER 1984 AT THE sale AS WELL AS TODAY, THE LARGE MARX CAR HAULER (including the 3 cars that are being hauled) IS COUNTED AS ONE (1) ITEM, NOT FOUR (4). THAN,ALL OF THE OTHER SMALL CARS AND TRUCKS ARE NINE (9), FOR A TOTAL OF TEN (10).
ALSO, THE MARX CAR HAULER WAS NOT PICTURED IN THE sale CATALOG (page #22, my picture #10) SIMPLY BECAUSE IT WAS TO BIG TO FIT INTO THE PICTURE, THIS IS THE CORRECT, COMPLETE 10 LOT SET FROM THE NOVEMBER 24-25, 1984 IMPERIAL PALACE sale!!
INCLUDED: sale CATALOG WITH SALE PRICES NEATLY WRITTEN, buyer PASSES (2), COA LOT #175, PAID RECEIPT DATED 11-24-84 FOR THESE TEN (10) TOY CARS & TRUCKS, AND AN ARTICLE FROM THE LAS VEGAS SUN (the local Las Vegas newspaper) ABOUT THIS sale.
THE CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY is signed by Steve\'s daughter Terry and son Chad, when it comes to collectible cars, motorcycles, toys, provenance is everything. Providing this sort of documentation was a wise move on behalf of the estate, as it will only grow in significance over time.
IT WAS AT THIS THIS IMPERIAL PALACE sale WHERE STEVE\'S RARE 1956 JAGUAR XKSS RHD WAS SOLD FOR $147,500,TODAY, THE PETERSON MUSEUM OWNS THIS CAR, NOW VALUED AS HIGH AS $25 MILLION by MATT STONE, hard to believe??
SO, THIS IS THE BACK STORY ABOUT THESE McQUEEN TOYS. IN JULY 2013, I ATTENDED THE ESTATE sale OF CAROL XXXX IN NORTON OHIO. CAROL AND HER HUSBAND JIM WERE FRIENDS OF STEVE McQUEEN. JIM BUILT BATTERY BOXES AND REPRODUCED RUBBER PEDAL PADS FOR STEVE\'S MANY INDIAN MOTORCYCLES THAT WERE RESTORED FOR HIS PERSONAL COLLECTION, MAINLY IN THE 1970\'s.
JIM AND CAROL ATTENDED THE IMPERIAL PALACE ESTATE sale IN LAS VEGAS ON NOV. 24-25, 1984.
AS REGISTERED buyers #257C and #258C, THEY PURCHASED ONE (1) LOT OF STEVE McQUEEN\'S TOYS, #175.
ALSO, I WAS TOLD JIM AND CAROL VISITED STEVE AT LEAST THREE TIMES AT HIS HOME IN CALIFORNIA.
As most of you know, Steve McQueen died in Juarez Mexico on November 7, 1980 at age 50, after surgery to remove a large tumor in his stomach and another in the neck area, complications of Mesothelioma, a rare and painful form of lung cancer that few survive, especially then.
