Alovely and superb Georgian Moonroller Period One Longcase Clockin good working order, by the documented clock maker Walker of Nantwich,and dating to around 1785-95

Theelegant case is in Oak with Mahogany trim and various inlays, and is in good all round condition. The shaped case door with an Oak panel inside a Mahogany crossbanded and moulded edge. It retains its original hinges and working lock and key behind the brass key escutcheon, and the door is flanked by turned and reeded pillars with gilded capitals. The base with a Mahogany banding edged around the raised oak panel, with inlaid fans inside the inverted corners, and with line inlaid canted corners at each side. The clock stands on its origfinal petite Ogee Bracket feet at a very impressive 90 inches in total overall height to the top of the finial (86 1/2 inches without the finial).

The hood is Swan Neck pediment, the elegant horns with its lovely gilded \"Rose\" paterae, rising up towards to the central carved and shaped pediment. The front panel with elegantly gilded scrollwork panels (restored), and with the original brass Ball and Eagle finial to the very top of the hood. The glazed hood door retains its old glass and brass handle, and the door is flanked by turned and reeded pillars at each side, with Brass capitals.

The period one painted archedMoon dial is in lovely condition, the four corners having nicely painted floral scenes inside a \"strawberry\" gilt edging (the gilt really catches the light). The hours are represented by Roman Numerals, with an outer minute ring, the center of the dial with the fully working subsidiary seconds dial and working 31 day calendar aperture above the makers signature, and with birds of paradise or similar, amongst flora to each side of the center. The top arch with the revolving moon dial which has two moon faces, a cottage landscape scene, and a well painted seascape. The moon dial sits below the 29 1/2 day lunar calendar which is around the very top arch, with the two detailed hemispheres or \"worlds\" below, and the dial is finished withits set of original Blued Steel hands.

The4 pillar, rack and snail striking,8 day durationmovement is in nice and fairly clean condition, andgood working order, chiming out the hours on a single bell. The movement has been recently checked and oiled, it is all working well and keeping excellent time, but as with all antique clocks it would benefit from a service at some time in the future. Theclock comes complete with it\'s weights and pendulum, along with a winding key, the dial, movement and case have always been together and are totally original to each other.

Dimensions - 90 inches high, 22 inches wide at the top of the hood.

Faults; There are some minor age related marks and minor cracks as you would expect, the case door lock is temperamental as the key is not the original one, there is a small side piece missing from the very top pediment of the hood .
