Alovely and superb quality Victorian Longcase Clockin good working order, by F.Richardson of Stockton on Tees, and dating to around 1840-50

The case is in fine figured Mahogany to the front, with Rosewood and Satinwood bandings, and various intricate inlays, and is in good all round condition. The shaped case door with a fine figured Mahogany panel edged with rosewood, and with its original hinges and lock (the key is missing). Above and below the door there are further line inlay edged mahogany panels, and the door is flanked by canted corners with very intricate inlaid \"criss cross\" ebony panels above and below. The base with a figured front panel, this time with a Satinwood banding edged in Ebony lines, and the clock stands on its splayed feet at a very impressive 96 1/4 inches in total overall height (92 1/2 inches without the finial).

The hood is Swan Neck pediment, the elegant horns with their turned paterae, rising up towards the central pediment which is finished with the original Brass Ball and Eagle finial to the centre of the line inlaid front panel. The glazed and crossbanded hood door retains its original old glass and handle, and the door is flanked by elegantly turned pillars at each side.

The painted arched dial is in nice clean and original condition, the four corners having nicely painted gilded floral scenes. The hours are represented by Roman Numerals, with an outer minute ring, the center of the dial with the fully working subsidiary seconds dial and working 31 day calendar dial above the makers signature. The top arch with the makers signature inside a leaf border, with further gilded floral sprays at each side, and the dial is finished withits full and original set of chased brass hands.

The4 pillar, rack and snail striking,8 day durationmovement is in original and clean condition, and working order, chiming out the hours on a single bell. The clock is set up and keeping excellent time, but as with all antique clocks it would benefit from a clean and service at some time in the future. Theclock comes complete with it\'s weights and pendulum, along with a winding key.

Dimensions - 96 1/4 inches high (92 1/2\" excluding finial) x 22 1/2 inches wide (base) x 8 1/2 inches deep (base)

Faults and notes; There are some very minor age related marks as you would expect with a clock of over 150 years old, the hood door has had a veneer repair and one horn has a crack. The dial has a very small chip near the top of the seconds dial.

Overall a really lovely fine quality Mahogany longcase clock in working order, ready to go straight into your home. Delivery and personal \"in house\" set up can be arranged depending on distance, please email for details.
