The following description was on an adjacent page to the print in the book:
In his youth Norman Rockwell had a well-do-do elderly uncle by the name of Gil Waughlum who was something of a scientist and inventor. Rockwell remembered him as a stout old gent, with rough pink cheeks and a bald head, who was extremely jovial and a bit eccentric. His biggest problem was thathe got his holidays mixed up. On Christmas day he would visit with a gift of Fourth of July firecrackers, on Easter he would bring Christmas gifts, and on Thanksgiving chocolate rabbits. Occasionally he even got his houses mixed up and once hid presents all through on of the neighbor\'s homes. When this cover of a small boy digging into a beaming grandfather\'s coat pocket was painted. Rockwell really had old Uncle Gil in mind.
