A gilded Jambhupati bronze figure of Buddha
Burma circa 17th century
The figure sits on a tall lotus throne with hands in Bhumisparsa and Dhyana Mudra,his head with elaborate scrolling headdress in original
condition. Most have been damaged and broken off.
Purchased in Thailand in 1974. Similar statues sold at sale in 1993 for 2000 pounds, approx. 4100 US dollars.
17th century original pieces are now rare and hard to find.
