Early Very Unusual Kathe Kruse Doll No1 around 1917:
$1313.00

This early Kathe Kruse doll is very unusual because of the fabric used in the body. It\'s not the usual pink colored muslin, but a brownish, less dense fabric (see picture).
Her oil painted features are all original (no repaint) and in good condition. There are seams from the corners of the mouth and she has a little double chin. The eyes have radiating irises and the cheeks and ears are colored reddish. There are no damages to the head, just some scuffs to the upper lip and some paint loss on the painted hair. The head is sewn on firmly to the body and there are three seams on the back of the head.
The body is of the wide hip type and the hands have separately sewn on thumbs. The hands are worn and one wrist has a repaired tear.
The hip joints and the soles of the feet are reinforced with cardboard.
This doll is in a generally good condition, but she has some old repairs. A much darker brown fabric has been used to reinforce the shoulders.
The doll measures 17\" and is marked with the Kathe Kruse signature and a number (unreadable) under her left sole.
She is dressed in her original rompers and petticoat with lace, but the antique velvet cap and the blue apron are nor original to her.
