These are some of the most common typesof Iroquois brooch pins that were found here in New York State.Lighting may gives the pictures a golden tint. All of these hand made reproductions are taken from original styles, most were found on the Onondaga reservation of New York and were in thecollection of the late Harriet Maxwell Converse ( who diedNov. 18th. 1903 ). Eastern Woodlands Style Trade Silver ornamentation was traded to the North American Indians by the European FurTraders from approximately the 1680\'s to the late 1840\'s. These original pieces were made of copper, brass, pewter, German Silver, and Silver. Many pieces started out as large silver coins and were poundedinto very thin sheets. They were then cut to size. The Cats and I cut out all of our pieces with the same kind of jewelers fret saw as was used 400 years ago, then they are polished and engraved.
