Highly collectible vintage and signed: Striking RUG PATTERN contoured cuff bracelet by noted Navajo artist Gilbert (J.R.) Tolino who recently won four silversmithing awards at the Gallup Ceremonials. This fits a 6.5 inch wrist perfectly and is very, very slightly adjustable. It weighs a hefty 54.2 grams. The inside measure is 5 5/8 inches with a gap of 1 3/8\" -- and is 1/8\" thick.

J.R. Tolino began silversmithing in 1987 and is best known for his distinctive rug designs (his First Place win at Gallup was for a rug-patterned necklace set with five Turquoise Mountain stones (for sale for $2,745 at Perry Null Trading Post, one of our favorite major traders). A very similar rug pattern bracelet to this one by J.R. Tolino sold recently on the websiteof highly regarded Brown\'s Trading Post in Gallup for more than $300.

A special feature of this bracelet is that J.R., who extensively uses silver overlay in his jewelry, departed from his usual white washing of his overlay work. He textured the bottom layer of thick silver, then oxidized it to make the diamond-shaped rug design of the top layer of polished silver REALLY stand out. We have only seen a couple of the contoured versions of his rug design bracelets -- you can imagine how much more difficult it is to do silver overlay with these dramatic curves (the top layer is soldered to the bottom layer which is difficult enough in a straight line).

From personal experience, I can tell you this curved design is extremely comfortable -- and one of the few native American statement bracelets I\'ve ever worn that does not get in the way when you are working on a keyboard. The design and the proportions mean this bracelet also stays put, even during outdoor activity in hot weather.
