\" The Berndorfer Metal-Warenfabrik was the maker of the so-called \" Berndorfer \" helmet which was simply designated as the Model 16. Later, they produced a variation of the German M 16 helmet, which they designated the M17. This model is today referred to by collectors as the Hungarian model but was in fact issued to troops of the Austro-Hungarian forces irrespective of their nationality.\" This \" Berndorf \" Austrian made helmet I believe is all original, and in great condition for it\'s age. This helmet is made by the \"Berndorfer Metal-Warenfabrik A Krupp AG Berndorf, Austria.\" This rare helmet is well marked and easy to read. A small \"bear logo\" is stamped on the back underside of the helmet with the size \"64\" stamped under the \"bear logo\". The helmet is also stamped on the inside of the dome with a large \"B\" and \"31\" under it with a small \"B\" stamped under and to the left of the \"31\". There is some writing on the underside of the helmet in pencil but very hard to read. All I can make out is \"5/H\" and looks like \"G F\" (see pictures) The liner is like the German type made of three brown leather pads attached to a metal band held in place by two rivets and one split pin rivet. The three leather pads are in good condition and the cushion pads inside the leather pockets look original and tied into place. The cushion pads are red in color and in different states of fading, so they may of been replaced at different times, although all appear original to the helmet. The chinstrap is of woven material, reinforced by leather and fitted with the typical clamp buckle and worn somewhat. The standard Austrian non-reflective brown paint is retained on about 95% of the helmet. The helmet has very little to no rust on it. The helmet has a few small nicks, dents, scuff marks, and a little dirty which is expected from usage and war. This helmet is a very rare find and well kept thanks to my Dad for this one ! This is the Best Austrian helmet I\'ve ever seen !! This helmet would be a great addition to any serious collector !
