In fine condition, with toning to edges that can be matted out.
Steve Canyon was an American adventure comic strip that ran from January 13, 1947, until June 4, 1988, shortly after Caniff\'s death.
A large and desirable piece of original artwork by the famous cartoonist.

A great investment piece & a great gift for the\"Steve Canyon\"fan!* Please note: This item had been listed in two major autograph sale houses before it was purchased by me. The description of the piece is copied directly from their sale listings.It has been brought to my attention that because he had so many requests for sketches,Caniff sometimes made copies of sketches and then hand colored and signed them to save time.While he indeed may have done this, this was not an exclusive habit, and both the sale houses that listed it previouslyseemed convinced that it was both an original sketch and hand colored as well...While I casually knew Caniff during his life, his inking & line work was so tight and flawless, it is beyond my expertise to be able to tell the difference.As a best case scenario, this is a sketch hand inked and then hand colored and signed by Caniff as proposed by both of the sale houses.As a worse case scenario, this is a sketch that Caniff made a copy of on heavy card stock and then personally hand colored and hand signed the item.
