Up for sale is this one-of-a-kind RARE ANTONIO ESTEVES (1910-1983)ABSTRACT PAINTING signed and dated 1976.famous for his naïve child-like style folk art akin to grandma moses, and usually thought of along with. religious, nudes, and panoramic folk scenes that go back to the horizon in detail. he painted since the 50s but became famous also for painting out of pain due to a horrific accident in 1971 in Brooklyn when in his job of building superintendent in an old brownstone on Eastern pkwy, when the boiler he checked turned out to have a faulty valve. BOOM!he survived with 67 per cent of the skin charred from his body. water was brought from Lourdes by a thoughtful and compassionate nurse in the hospital, who washed his face with it everyday, and his face never scarred. the rest of his life skin grafts and surgeries all over his body didnothing to stop the massive scarring and searing, burning \'fire\' as he called it that came dozens of times a day and night overwhelming himas his nerve endings attempted to regrow the rest of his life. which was 12 years later. although it has no official name,this peice has been referred to as \'the hallway\' or \'the white dot mistake\' by close family members,. it needs a good cleaning to bring out its vibrant colors, which is housepaint on a dresser drawer bottom as was common with antonios work. see pics fordetails. please ask any and all questions before offerding! there will be no refunds for any reason at all; PAYPAL ONLY!!
