RARE English Georgian Sterling Toddy Ladle with 1718 Quarter Guinea Gold Coin
Description:
A rare, (perhaps one of a kind) English Georgian sterling toddy ladle with a 1718 gold quarter guinea set into the bowl. Quarter guinea\'s were only minted twice, in 1718 and again in 1762. There were 37,380 minted in 1718. They proved to be too small to be practical and were not used much. Many were melted down and some were saved. This one, obviously, put into the bowl of a toddy ladle. The coin weighs 2.1 grams and is made from 22ct. gold. The ladle itself is later, probably second half of the 18th century judging by the style. It has a twisted baleen handle and silver Ferrell. The ladle is in excellent condition and measures 10\" long. Please view all photos carefully. Guaranteed to be as described.
