Rare 18th or 17th century Mold blownTumbler Early. Pontil Hand Blown:
$400.00

For sale is a very early hand blown, mold blown tumbler. this dates to prob 18th or 17th century.I\'ve owned this for many years. Slight brownish cast to the clear glass with crizzling throughout. Two mold seams, eight petaled daisies, pyramids, 2 rows of dots around top. large 2 1/8\" pontil on base. Alot of wear on base and on rim. 4 1/8\" tall. not leaded glass. band of 32 oval flutes around base. Mckearin shows a stiegel type vase, one of a pair, that has the rare eight petals. plate 32 #1. This tumbler is a great example of being inflated after it was removed from the mold, as the decoration is concave on both sides (see Hunter SG pp.196-7 ). Condition is great, alot of scratching and wear and one small nick on inside of lip. So this piece is unique in my experience, probably made overseas.south jersey
