Iconic Rolls Royce \'Spirit of Ecstasy\' Statue in bronze designed by Charles Sykes.
We are pleased to present this fabulous \'Spirit of Ecstasy\' Bronze Sculpture for your consideration. The original was created by Charles Sykes (1875-1950) for Rolls Royce where it was used as the basis for their famous hood ornament and dealership decoration. Ours come from a local estate and is signed, but not numbered or dated. We date it to approximately 1960.
The Statue measures 21-1/2 inches high, 12 inches wide (measured across the wings), and 13 inches deep. Quite heavy mounted on its marble base, it weighs 34 pounds 9 ounces. The only marking is a signature on the base of the bronze which reads CHARLES SYKES (see pictures).
The patina on the Statue shows some wear from handling, especially in the area of the face where it has lightened in color a bit. All metal surfaces are free of any damage or repairs. We rate the overall condition as very good.
This is a large impressive looking Statue that will be sure to draw attention and spark recognition of its iconic image in most viewers. It would make an exceptional decorative piece!
