Item Description:I am pleased to offer this original Japanese army officers sword inRusso-Japanese period Kyu Gunto mountings from World War 2. The blade and themountings are in Very Goodcondition. The sword has a blade length of 26 inches (66cm). The sword has bo-hi, or fullers, running the length ofthe blade on both sides. The sword showsa tight itame hada. The sword showsan etched gunome hamon that is present the length of the blade. The sword is mumei, or unsigned.

The mountings are Russo-Japanese period Kyu Gunto. The mountings are in Very Good condition. The tsukais saber-shaped and adorned with cherry blossoms. The inner part of the tsukais same rayskin. The wire wrap is mostly intact with loosenessin a couple of places. The backstrap ofthe tsuka is adorned with an attractive FamilyMon. There are four seppa withthe tsuka. The saya (scabbard) is platedmetal. It shows no dents but significant rust. There is a locking mechanism andit works well. The blade is in VeryGood condition. It shows a few small micro nicks along its length.There are small spots of surface rust and some scratches along the blade. There are no major flaws like hagire. I think this piece would be an outstandingaddition for a collector of WW2 militaria or Japanese swords.
