This is a superb big antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate and Cairngorm citrine pendant. The design is rare and the quality exquisite!I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found. This is a high quality piece with all the stones in beautiful condition!
The superb stones are green and red speckled bloodstone from the Isle of Rum and quality orange veined section of jasper from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire.The facetted stones are a wonderful range of different colour range of citrines from the Cairngorm mountain range which have been fully tested by a local jeweller to confirm they are real citrines. The colour range is champagne at the top through golden to finally a lovey dark brandy citrine on the right.The pendant has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this age and has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The length is large at 6.3 cm ( two and a half inches including the bale ) and the superb bale is original and in good working condition. The bale is hinged. PLEASE NOTE: There is a solder stamp on the back with an unusual design? I am not sure what this mark signifies but have showed a close up picture for information.
