This is a beautiful handpainted antique china miniature cup by Meissen and bearing the underglaze blue crossed swords mark with an asterisk below and a number 4. The mark dates it to the end of the 18th Century. The cup is approx 3.5cm tall and 5.5cm in diameter at the rim. The cup has a handpainted panel with a country scene against a cobalt blue and gold background. The cup is in very good condition for its age with no chips or cracks and just some minor wear to the gilding at the rim. Unfortunately the saucer is missing.
