Discovered during a recent property refurbishment and therefore offered at a remarkable price ( same figure offered elsewhere at £850 and £960 ! ), this beautiful sculpture entitled to front \"Poesie Pastorale par Ruffony\" features a beautful, languid shepherdess tending a sheep and lamb on a stepped marble base.
Ruffony was an Italian sculptor born in 1846 and living until 1925, it is probably fair to summise that his best works were created at the peak of the Art Nouveau period at the time of this particular bronzed spelter group.
Standing on a stepped variegated marble base in pleasant shades of honey and grey, the total measurements of this work are 16\"x 6.5\"x 9\". No damage or restoration, please study closely the detail in the casting of both the sheep and shepherdess to appreciate the quality of this work.
Unfortunately this is very heavy indeed due to the triple stepped marble base and this is reflected in the overseas shipping cost. However rest assured that this will be double boxed and very safely packaged, enabling my courier to deliver safely worldwide at cost.
