Offered here is an extremely rare Alameda County Sheriff\'s Office badge known as the \"Driver\" badge. Extremely sought after, this full-size gold front uniform breast badge dates back to the 1930\'s when Sheriff Mike Driver had it designed by the Ed Jones Company. What makes this badge even more desirable and rare is that fact that it was issued to Sheriff Driver\'s brother, John Driver whose name appears on the top banner of the badge. This badge has the vintage fork catch and old Ed Jones hallmark as well as the gold front markings (*also note that as it is not marked, I have been informed that this badge contains sterling silver beneath the gold front, by several collectors - unlike most contemporary badges which have base metal beneath the gold front - * I have not tested the badge for its silver content, however the silver patina makes it pretty obvious).
I have included a link below from the East Bay Times which dates back to 2007 (great article about these badges) and places the price up to $2,000.00 (in 2007). As I mentioned earlier, because this badge is from the Driver family, the value is much more than that. Trust me when I say that you will never come across an Alameda County Sheriff\'s gold-front \"Driver\" badge with Driver family ties, from this era and in this condition....This badge, as rare as it is, is being offered at just $1650 or best offer.
