*SCARCE 15mm GILT HERTFORDSHIRE MILITIA BUTTON c1759-90 W WILLIAMS*

Up for sale I have thisscarce 15mm gilt button of the Hertfordshire Militia dating c1759-90. Thisbutton is possibly an early pattern to the unit and my identification of thisbutton is based on the button seen HERERef No 074. If you feel my identification/dating of the button is incorrectfeel free to contact me and I’ll amend the listing accordingly. Please judgefor yourself the condition of the button from the pictures and if it’s in a conditionyou would be happy with. As seen the button has suffered during its time in theground as it’s a bit corroded and a lot of the gilt has been lost on it.Although the design isn’t really clear it is readable and the HARTS title withM below is visible. As shown the button has lost its rear loop in antiquity andthe back stamp of W WILLIAMS is clear though this doesn’t help me give a moreprecise date for the button as I’ve not seen this maker before on a button.Approximate diameter of the button is 15mm and it weighs approx 1.78g. A scarcebutton that would make a great addition to any collection. One pence notincluded in the sale! Any questions just ask as hopefully I’ll be able to help!
