Up for sale I have thisnear complete early pewter button of the 88th (Connaught Rangers)Regiment of Foot dating to I believe c1800. Please judge for yourself thecondition of the button from the pictures and if it’s in a condition you wouldbe happy with. If you feel my dating of the button is incorrect feel free tocontact me and I’ll amend the listing accordingly. As can be seen for a pewterbutton dug from the ground this is in great condition. Normally pewter buttonscorrode and break up in the ground but this one has managed to survive! It’s abit corroded around the edges but on the whole it’s stable and it’s beenpreserved to prevent any further damage to the edges. The button is clearlymarked on the front with the number 88 and the back stamp although a littlecorroded can be seen as I & B PEARSE LONDON which doesn’t help me date thebutton as it’s a manufacturer I’ve not seen before. Sadly as always the buttonis missing its rear loop as this would have been made from iron and hascorroded away in the ground. Approximate diameter of the button is 19mm and itweighs approx 3.4g. A collectable button that would make a great addition toany collection. One pence not included in the sale! Any questions just ask ashopefully I’ll be able to help!
