1/6 PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE - EXTRAORDINARY BOY ON A POLISHED SILVER PLATE - HIS EYES! - You can see him working so hard at following the instructions of this Daguerreian operator when you look into his eyes. He is a charming boy of about five or six years of age, standing at attention and placing his elbow on the table beside him. The crisp details of his shirt and the tablecloth pop with amazing depth. His hair was groomed with a part on the side and his cheeks tinted a natural blush color. He was matted in one of my absolute favorite scalloped mats which gives the plate a dramatic appearance. He is held by a full case with a pattern I have never seen embossed on the exterior of a six plate housing. I guaranty you will enjoy revealing his holographic likeness each time you open the top of this case. A great addition to any collector of fine 19th Century imagery. Good luck offerding!Condition: Please view my detailed scans for the actual condition. The sixth plate was near perfection when I removed the old glazing to reveal the boy beneath. Resealed with P90 archival tape and new glass applied. There is but a tiny tan dot on his right cheek and a few insignificant spots in the background which are barely visible when held in your hand. The case has an intentional mismatched embossing on the top and bottom.
