Antique, 19th century, gilt wood sculpture of Evangelist, depicting the apostle standing on an integrally carved base, clad in long robes.His left hand clasping an open book and his right hand upraised. The rear plane, unfinished, since originally, the statuette was most likely part of analtarpiece.
Condition: In good condition considering its age, usage, minor loss of gilding on prominent areas by prolonged hand contact, age crack on the join of separately constructed right arm and the base, broken thumb and the forefinger in right hand.
DIMENSIONS: Height: 51 cm (20 in.)
Please be aware that the second figure of evangelist, which is on the last two pictures is not including in this lot, and it has beenput for sale separately.
