Authentic signed Presidential document by our 22nd U.S. President, William McKinley dated July 14th, 1898. Document is a hand signed rare Presidential Military Appointment during the Spanish-American War signed boldly and with a nice full William McKinley signature (President McKinley has handsigned in nice rich brown ink in lower right corner -signature is nearly 5\" in length!) . Document is in very good shape (measures approx 16\" x 21\" as seen )with some light wrinkling nothing unusual for this rarer type of military appointment. I also purchased a large protective hard inert toploader removable holder to store this document and will be shipped in the protective holder as well.

In addition to President McKinley\'s signature, document is counter-signed by the Secretary of War and has the official blue War Dept. Seal in tact and affixed to lower left corner.

While you can sometimes find occasional Military Appointments from President McKinley.. Rarely do you see one signed by him for the \"actual\" Spanish-American War .. The Spanish-American War is one of the shortest Wars in U.S. History lasting a mere 3 mos , 2 weeks and 4 days (April 25, 1898 – August 12, 1898)...

It was during this short War (The Spanish-American War) that Col. Theodore Roosevelt (Teddy\'s Rough Riders) distinguished himself as a folk legend and later propelled him to National Office (he became President McKinley\'s Vice President in 1900) and eventually President of the United States a mere 3 years later.

President McKinley was sadly assassinated in September of 1901 and is one of only four Martryed U.S. Presidents.. the other three being Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, and of course the late John F. Kennedy.

I purchased a nice top loader inert plastic holder to store the document and will ship the document in this removable plastic holder for added protection !
