We obtain books and more through donation drives in communities like yours. We occasionally obtain items that would be of more value to consumers than to our grant recipients and take a quantity of donated items and sell them on - proceeds from these sales fund our literacy and educational efforts.

Customer Service
Books for America Customer Service is normally available during regular business hours from our Virginia office. We are not normally open on weekends or holidays. While you may send us a customer service request at any time, please do not expect any action to be taken on it outside our normal business hours. We generally respond to messages within 1-2 business days.

We send shipment confirmations, delivery confirmation numbers, and miscellaneous support communications by conventional e-mail. These notices may NOT appear in your message queue. Be sure to check your registered e-mail address for the most recent information regarding your shipment.

We will send you an e-mail if we discover a problem with your order. We will give you two (2) business days to respond to that e-mail with instructions on how you want us to proceed. If we do not receive those instructions within that time, we will request cancellation from for your protection.

Shipping

All items sold by Books for America on are shipped via USPS Bound Printed Matter, USPS Media Mail, or USPS First Class Mail (dependent on weight and type of media); USPS Priority Mail or USPS First Class International/Priority Mail International are available for an extra charge on selected titles only.

We ship to the address registered in at the time of the sale. We will download your address EXACTLY as you have entered it so please be sure it is complete, correct, and current.

We typically ship orders within one business day of receiving payment. Within the 48 contiguous United States, estimated delivery is between four (4) and fourteen (14) business days from the day we ship the order, but may be as long as twenty-one (21) business days. Orders traveling to California, Hawaii, and Alaska tend to take closer to 14 business days to arrive. Contact us if you have any concerns about your order before leaving any response, please!

Returns

Your satisfaction is very important to us. Please contact us via \'s messaging center regarding any problems before leaving negative response. Any defects, damages, or material differences with your item must be reported to us within 7 days of receipt of the item.

Any order that is returned by the USPS for insufficient or incorrect address can be reshipped for a fee of $3.99 or refunded. Refunds in this case will only be for the original purchase price of the item, minus any fee the USPS charges us to return the package.
