Compote Woman Cameo Medallion Looped Vase

YOU WILL PICK EITHER THE GREEN OR THE YELLOW COMPOTE YOU ARE offerDING ON 1 ONLY !!

I AM PLEASED TO OFFER A high compote or a tall footed rose bowl probably made by a late 1800s American glass company emulating the British glass works, Nailsea was famous for their art glass with looping/draping decoration. This is a tall striking piece with a large oval medallion in the stem, all in grass green or yellow (your choice) with opaque white glass loops draping around the three sections of the bowl. The oval medallion has beading around the edges and the bust of a Grecian woman in relief a cameo on each side. This is a grand statement piece deserving of a place of honor in one\'s collection. It stands 12\" high and is 7\" at its widest point. Condition is excellent !
This art glass object was decorated in the Nailsea style with opaque white looping decor. Nailsea was a glassmaker in England during the mid 1800s which had to use window glass to avoid taxes. They decorated the glass with distinctive loopings, made by applying white glass to the object and then combing it into various styles of loopings.
The foot of both the yellow and or green compote has small trapped air bubbles, the stem above the medallion has 1 small trapped air bubble in the yellow compote. In excellent original condition. Glass is free of calcium, beautiful glowing amber and or gorgeous green. I have 1 in green, 1 in yellow and you are offerding on one only ! You can decide which color you want to buy or 2 times if you decide to buy them both for the selling price.
Possibly early American Sandwich glass, Pittsburg or S. Jersey. Sandwich factories made manyforms with this typelooped decor. Nicknamed \"Nailsea\" as early American glassmakers copied the style originating fromNailsea, England. We lean towards American. Perhaps an 1850s Jenny Lind (opera singer wildly popular in America with whomP.T. Barnumwas in love with) memorabilia piece.
It is hand blown. While there may be manufacturing bubbles, which is to be expected with all hand blown glass, there are no chips, cracks, or repairs. How Fantastic!!
Just fantastic and will make a beautiful table !! from a smoke free home, upscale estate.
My shipping quote is for 1 COMPOTE ALONE, lower 48 states. CLEAN INSIDE AND OUT AND WELL CARED FOR All sales are sale format and unless I am wrong in description, are final. Please feel free to email any and all questions.
