14\" Sioux Reservation Era Seed-Beaded Braintanned Leather Doll:

An exquisitely-made 14\" Tall by 8\" wide across arms Sioux Indian Doll. This doll is made of hand-stitched braintanned leather and is heavily lazy-stitched withseed-beads on the dress,dress yoke,face and mocassins. Seed beads vary in color from greasy yellow to white toblue to red to black.Buffalo hair. Dress hasan extremely nice pattern of beading on both sides; dress yoke is beaded fully front and back. Dress has two rows of fringe near bottom and leather ties up each side.
This doll was likely made in the mid-reservation period and sold as a tourist trade doll through a trading post or directly on a reservation.
The doll was acquiredfrom the Misty Alsip Collection in 2004.
