14 Vintage Army Letters Lot Germany APO 164 Hoddy Mahon Photo Vintage Old #3623:

An original lot of 14 Militia letters including the cover postmarked 1955 and an 8x10 of Rosemary. These letters were written by Private Hoddy Mahon while he was over in Germany. The letters was sent home to his girlfriend in Newark NJ.

Private Hoddy Mahons letters are very interesting and are on many military subjects..... Below I just picked a random letter to list an excerpt from:

Excerpt: ....The difference between survey & communications us- In survey you locate enemy positions & then you set up your own artillery guns at a certain position so that they can fire on the enemy. Survey tells the Artillery how far the enemy is from them so that they will know just what distance to fire. Communications as far as I know lays down were & sets up telephones & switchboards so that our troops can keep in contact with each other.....
