This is a leaf of early printingfrom a Biblia Latina, Gospel of John Chapters 3-6. Printed atLyons by Joannis Crispini in 1539. This is a close copy of Jacquesand Jean Mareschal\'s Lyons Bibles of 1525. It is also closelyrelated to Jacob Sacon\'s Bibles. Crispini, originally of the French/Netherlands province of Artois printed for a time in Lyons beforefleeing religious persecution and opening a press in Geneva in1548. He died of the plague in 1572. The leaf measures 340 x 240mm. in totality and contains 70-lines of gothic type printed doublecolumn in Latin with 4-line historiated letters beginning eachchapter. The versocontains the same amount of lines, type & layout. (FairfaxMurray 36, Not in Darlow & Moule) This leaf contains minorstaining.
