Bound in fine half- leather, marbled paper over boards; the spine with raised bands and black leather title label, like new. Heinrich Opitz

Heinrich Opitz (* 14. February 1642 in Altenburg ; † 24. February 1712 in Kiel ; also: Heinrich Opitius) was a German theologian and Orientalist .


Life

Heinrich Opitz - son of a silk merchant - was because of his early interest in singing and music at the age of thirteen years in the court orchestra of Duke Friedrich Wilhelm II. Appointed. 1662 Opitz began studies at the University of Wittenberg , later University of Jena , where he 1665 Magister was. Next, he stayed in Leipzig and Hamburg and worked on oriental languages ​​. In 1667 Opitz traveled to Kiel. There he became a lecturer . Another three years later it was a journey through the country in the course of studies of Oriental Languages ​​Netherlands and England granted. Opitz died in 1712 in Kiel at the age of 70 years. He left two sons, the theologians Paul Friedrich Opitz and Josias Heinrich Opitz . Both his textbook of Hebrew and his Hebrew Bible edition was many decades in use.
