1795 GEORGIAN STERLING SILVER COVERED DISH BY JOHN EDWARDSThis elegant antique sterling silver covered serving dish was made by the English silversmith, John Edwards III, in 1795. The lid is decorated with a floral/geometric design while the bottom is unadorned. The lovely handle is removable. The length of the dish is 12 inches while the width is 8.5 inches. The height is 3 inches to the top of the bowl and 4.5 inches to the top of the handle. There are full hallmarks for the year 1795: there is the lion passant for sterling and the \"I.E\" in a rectangle for John Edwards III, maker, the lower case \"u\" for 1795 and the duty mark, the head of King George III. Both top and bottom are marked. John Edwards III came from a long line of English silversmiths. This serving piece is in extremely fine condition and is very heavy, weighing in at 46 regular ounces.
