1796 PETER BATEMAN/ANN BATEMAN STERLING SERVING SPOON 8.75 INCHES LONG, FULL HALLMARKSThis a wonderful, rare sterling serving spoon by Peter Bateman and Ann Bateman. The hallmarks date it to 1796, which was one of the handful of years that Peter Bateman and Ann Bateman worked together. Carrying on the tradition of Hester Bateman, these individuals bearing the Bateman name were not a couple. Ann Bateman was a widow, and Peter was married to someone else. As a team, however, they produced beautiful work. The spoon is 8.75 inches long and 1.75 inches at the widest point on the bowl. The bowl itself is 3 inches long so this is a large serving Pictures sell!
