A leaf from an illuminated Koran, North India, probably Kashmir, early 19th century, on gold painted paper (209 x 132 mm.). There are twelve lines written in Naskhi script in black ink, diacritics and vowel points in black and red, interlinear Persian translation in small nasta’liq in red ink, margins ruled in blue and gold, catchwords in wide margins, illuminated devices in margins, sura headings in red. The two (2) remaining leaves in this lot are text only and do not contain any decorations or embellishments. versotwelve lines written in Naskhi script in black ink, diacritics and vowel points in black and red, interlinear Persian translation in small nasta’liq in red ink, margins ruled in blue and gold illuminated devices in margins, sura headings in red. Condition of this leaf is less than fine [F-] due to some minor water staining to the outer margin.
