George Campbell was a figure of the Scottish Enlightenment, known as a philosopher, minister, and professor of divinity. Campbell was primarily interested in rhetoric, since he believed that its study would enable his students to become better preachers. He became a philosopher of rhetoric because he took it that the philosophical changes of the Age of Enlightenment would have implications for rhetoric.

The text is accompanied by Reverend Campbell\'s illuminatingcommentaries.

CONDITION

In a reverse calf binding. Externally, a trifle rubbed with marks to board and wear to corners. Loss to head and tail of spine. Front boards detached and rearhinge of volume one is strained but firm. Chipping to title plates of volume two. Internally, first two chapters of Genesis are detached, otherwise pages firmly bound.Final pageof secondvolume is a facsimile reprint.Some light scatteredspotting though generally bright and clean. Overall: GOOD ONLY with a VERY GOOD interior.
