A Spanish version of a French Bible sometimes known as the \"Bible de Vence.\" This edition, prepared by certain Roman Catholic priests, appears to be the earliest Bible printed in Mexico. It is based on a Bible published in 25 volumes at Paris in 1820-4. Language is diglot in both Spanish and Latin. The preface, addressed \"A la Iglesia Mejicana\", is signed by Mariano Galvan Rivera, who is described elsewhere as the proprietor of the translation. With elaborate prolegomena, dissertations, prefaces, tables, etc, along with the complete books of Esdras I and II, Nehemiah, Tobit, Judith and Esther. Includes folding table as well. This is the 8th volume of the se. Original leather with rubbed title labels on the spine, as shown with some gilt and red leather label still visible, the hinges holding.
